Welcome to ownaword.com, a platform operated by Cherish Innovations Inc. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Own A Word™ platform and all associated services.
By accessing or using our platform — whether browsing, purchasing, or gifting — you agree to be bound by these Terms in full. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.
Own A Word™ is a digital legacy platform where users may claim personal, emotionally meaningful ownership of an English word by purchasing a digital certificate.
Ownership is permanently recorded on our public Word Owners Wall (WOW) and is exclusive to one person per word for as long as the platform exists.
Each word is available to one owner only. Once claimed, that word is permanently removed from the available collection and cannot be purchased by any other person.
Important: Word ownership on this platform is personal and emotional in nature. It does not constitute legal ownership, trademark rights, or copyright of any kind outside of this platform. For full clarity on what your ownership includes, see Section 4.

We reserve the right to update pricing at any time, including the conclusion of our Founding Price offer available to our first 1,000 word owners.

Words are available across ownership tiers — Signature, Legacy, and Immortal — each offering a different depth of ownership experience, features, and prestige. Full tier details are listed on the platform at the time of purchase. Pricing varies by tier and by word category.
Words are categorised as Essence, Eternal, or Everyday Soul. Pricing varies by category as listed on the platform at the time of purchase.
Word ownership is exclusive and permanent. Once a word is claimed, it cannot be purchased, claimed, or transferred to any other person outside of the approved transfer process outlined in Section 7.
Ownership on Own A Word™ is personal, emotional, and platform-exclusive in nature. It does not include legal ownership, trademark rights, copyright, or any intellectual property rights outside of this platform.
The physical artifact is an optional add-on selected at checkout. It includes:
Delivery is estimated at 2–3 weeks from the date of purchase.
Cherish Innovations Inc. is not liable for delivery delays caused by third-party shipping providers.
If a physical artifact is returned due to an incorrect delivery address provided by the buyer, redelivery costs are the sole responsibility of the buyer.
Words may be purchased as gifts. When gifting:
It is the buyer’s responsibility to provide accurate recipient information at the time of purchase.
Once a word is gifted and the recipient’s name is recorded, the buyer relinquishes all ownership claims to that word. This action is permanent and cannot be reversed outside of the transfer process in Section 7.
Word ownership is generally non-transferable.
In exceptional circumstances, transfer requests may be submitted to sayaword@ownaword.com for administrative review. Transfer approval is at the sole discretion of Cherish Innovations Inc.
Approved transfers are final. Once a word is transferred, the original owner permanently relinquishes all claims to that word.
Note: Certain ownership tiers include a one lifetime transfer as a tier benefit. This transfer remains subject to the review process outlined above.
All word purchases include a digital certificate delivered via email and accessible in your user dashboard.

Due to the exclusive and permanent nature of word ownership, all sales are final.
Once a word has been claimed and your name recorded in the Word Owners Wall (WOW), refunds are not available.
Exception: If you believe an error was made during your purchase, contact us at sayaword@ownaword.com within 48 hours of purchase. We will review your case personally and respond as quickly as possible.
By using this platform, you agree not to:
We reserve the right to terminate accounts or remove word listings that violate these Terms or that we reasonably believe harm the integrity of the platform.
All content on this platform — including design, graphics, logos, branding, copy, the Own A Word™ name, the Word Owners Wall (WOW), Eternal Handover™, and the overall platform concept — is the exclusive intellectual property of Cherish Innovations Inc.
You may not copy, modify, distribute, reproduce, or commercially exploit any platform content without prior written permission from Cherish Innovations Inc.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Cherish Innovations Inc. is not liable for:
The platform is provided “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted access.
We reserve the right to suspend or permanently terminate access to the platform in cases of:
In cases of termination due to user-initiated violation, no refund will be issued.
If the platform is discontinued by Cherish Innovations Inc. for any reason unrelated to user conduct, we will make reasonable efforts to provide advance notice and a record of your ownership history.
We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in our services, operations, or applicable law.
All revisions will be posted on this page with an updated “Last Updated” date. Continued use of the platform following any update constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

These Terms are governed by and interpreted under the laws of Canada. Any disputes arising from or related to the use of this platform shall be resolved in accordance with Canadian federal legal standards and applicable provincial law.
